I received my B.S. in Accounting and have vast experience in Business, including substitute teaching at a college, having my own accounting firm (specialized in taxation), as well as more than 20 years in both private and governmental accounting. Since graduation, I have achieved several post-graduate certifications, which are all current. In addition, I have had continuing education classes that have enabled me to stay abreast of current issues and problems. I am well-versed, not only in accounting, but in mathematics and other subjects as well.
I tutored my three daughters through school (all of whom have now received at least a bachelor's degree). In addition I have worked with other middle school and high school students to help them better understood algebra, science and mathematics. In addition, I teach Bible classes as well as finance classes at Calvary Baptist Church in Pensacola. These classes include teenagers from 14 years of age to persons in their late 50's and 60's. Many folks have made life-changing decisions in the area of personal finance. Several have been able to get completely out of debt or are currently working through a plan to do so.
In addition, I played softball for several years (primarily as a pitcher, but also at third base and in left field). Then I "graduated" to coaching softball.
I like to see students progress and I especially enjoy working with them and watching them arrive at an "ah ha!" moment when they finally grasp an idea or principle that has eluded them. I am patient, but I like to see results and improvement. I am flexible and will be glad to discuss how I can help you do well in school and hopefully in life, as well.
