Hello! I had done tutoring for many years in general education. My style is to help
students to learn how to learn. My goal, therefore, is that the student become an
independent learner. To achieve this goal, the student needs to get motivated, meaning learning to find the subject interesting. Always it is my style to help awaken curiosity in the student.
Having started my life in an international background, I was exposed to learning an number of langauges early. I was born in Brazil, so I learned Portuguese from native speakers, but my parents were from Czechoslovakia, so from them I learned Czech. When I was four, we moved to the U.S.A., so I learned English. In high school, I took four years of German, and became very proficient. I won honorable mention in a scholarship competition sponsored by the German American Federation. My working familiarity with a number of languages, I think, carries over to my command of English. Since 2003, I have been a monthly contributor to Body, Mind, Spirit News, of writings on psychology and spirituality.
I have an M.A. degree in psychology from Eastern New Mexico University, and a B.A. in the same field from The University of Toledo. I also have had much coursework in English, mathematics, and education.
