I attended Central Connecticut State University, in New Britain, Connecticut & graduated in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. I worked in the mental health field for 3 years before deciding to pursue a career in education. I attended Sacred Heart University & earned a Master of Arts in Elementary Education. I graduated with a 3.9 GPA.
I currently hold my certification to teach Kindergarten through 6th grade. I have had the pleasure of being able to teach multiple subjects areas between Kindergarten to 12th grade. I have held several positions providing Supplemental Education Services. I have taught in the classroom, in after school resource programs, for summer school programs & in home one-to-one situations. I have always worked in special education. I am also trained in & familiar with teaching curriculum based on the guidelines & criteria set forth by The No Child Left Behind act.
I have high expectations of my students & believe that every student has the potential to learn with the proper training to attain the skills. I tend to be firm with my students & expect them to put forth effort, but I am also compassionate & try to leave room in my lessons to make learning fun & memorable. I strive to make my lessons & tutoring sessions interesting. I want my students to spend the sessions being interactive & enjoying the lessons, not watching the clock in anticipation to just get it over with.
As Thomas More once said, I believe that "Education is not the piling on of learning, information, data, facts, skills, or abilities - that`s training or instruction - but is rather making visible what is hidden as a seed."
