My name is Purvi. I am currently enrolled in the Bachelors to Masters program for Occupational Therapy at San Jose State University. I am very knowledgeable in Physiology, Anatomy, Neuroanatomy, Psychology, and Kinesiology. I have completed 4 years in Spanish; therefore, I have the basic knowledge to teach Spanish. I have already completed my Psychology minor at San Jose State University which included various Psychology courses and Statistics. I will be graduating in May 2010 with a Bachelors Degree in Occupational Therapy. Thus, I have plenty of skills in English; since I have completed the mandatory 3 classes of English, in addition to a skilled and standardized test, in order to graduate from San Jose State University.
As far as my tutoring abilities, I started working at Kumon Tutoring Center when I was in 9th grade. I taught different levels of math ranging from addition and subtraction to calculus. I also passed my Calculus SAT 2 subject. I tutored through a program called CSF in my high school for general high school subjects. I also started working for Kumon again for about 6 months during my freshman year of high school.
My usual teaching style consists of explaining and answering questions related to the subject material first. Later, I would want them to try attempting the subject as well. I like to make sure that the student understands the material more than just getting it done. I like to give life related scenarios to what I am teaching, if possible.
