My name is Alfred(although I go by Ryan). I just graduated from Brandeis University with a B.A. in Biology and Psychology. In addition, I am pre-doctoral (either M.D. or Ph.D.) student intent on enrolling in a Master's in Biomedical Science program at UMDNJ-Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences this Fall. I am capable of tutoring any science subject and/or SAT science subject test.
I have tutored middle/high school math (algebra I and II, Pre-calculus and Calculus), science, bible (judaic studies- I am proficient/fluent in hebrew), and I have comprehensive science background: coursework, laboratory work, and literacy. In addition, I have worked with ESL students, during my time at Brandeis, with Waltham Group (community outreach program).
I have a fairly extensive and fulfilling experience working with children and teaching. Recently, I also have partaken in some free-lance tutoring at Brandeis- primarily, science courses and some math. Moreover, I believe that I am a patient, compassionate, and empathetic person. I have a good instincts and intuition as to people’s needs and the confidence with which they understand material. Also, I can be sensitive to how comfortable they may be in terms of materials, asking what they may consider ‘stupid’ questions, and I feel that I possess the ability to foster an environment of learning without stress or anxiety- making the material relevant and intellectually accessible. Finally, I have the ability to instill confidence in people.
Personally, I do have a passion for teaching and helping others. In terms of my professional aspirations, I would like to become a medical college professor (in addition to practicing medicine).
