I love teaching and have extensive experience working with students of all ages. I graduated from magna cum laude from Connecticut College with my B.A. in English and am certified to teach Grades 6-12 in Massachusetts and Connecticut. Over the last 5 years have taught Grades 6, 7, and 10 in both public and private schools and tutored K-12 in various after school programs. I have experience teaching and taking standardized tests - when teaching 10th graders, I prepared my students for the state CAPT test for Connecticut, and have successfully prepared myself for the GRE's, MTEL, and PRAXIS tests. For my Junior year abroad, I studied Shakespeare and Renaissance Drama at Oxford University, where the teacher to student relationship is one on one - a dynamic that I truly enjoy in my tutoring experiences.Through connecting people's interests to material and incorporating a lot of hands on learning into my teaching, I try to make learning as fun and meaningful as possible. Working in the Writing Center at Connecticut College for three years, I helped improve my peers' writing skills at every stage of the process. I love making learning fun and seeing how much more engaged people are when they are excited about what they're learning.
