I’m Mike, this is a very short version of my history. For many years I labored during the day as a journeyman bricklayer while going to night school at City College of San Francisco where I received my Associates in Arts degree in 1996. From there I transferred to San Francisco State University where I earned a B.A. in Creative Writing and continued to receive a Masters Degree in English/Creative Writing in 2004. For two semesters I was a teaching assistant for Creative Writing at San Francisco State University. In the mid nineties was the Assistant Apprentice Instructor for Bricklayers Local Union #3 where I taught fundamentals of the masonry trade. I’ve written two unpublished novels and write short stories and poetry. I read constantly and believe that literature in all forms, from thick Russian novels to comic books, is the touchstone of civilization, it is history writ large. So I guess you’d say I was a true believer in English and the written word.
