Hi! My name is Ellen and I am an elementary teacher at Calvary Academy in Springfield. I have taught elementary for seven years. I have taught a variety of grades and have enjoyed each opportunity that I have had with new students. I have a standard k-9 teaching certificate with the state of Illinois. I have received my Bachelors in Psychology and completed the Teacher Education Program from the University of Illinois at Springfield. I have also completed several courses towards a Masters in Human Development Counseling. On a personal note, I am married with three childern, ages 7, 11, and 14 years. All of my students enjoy my fun, hands on teaching style. I look forward to the challenge of finding how each student learns best. I teach by using music, games, and other techniques that best fit each student's needs. Students will be motivated to do their best by positive reinforcement of words of encouragement, prizes, and contests. I plan on doing most of my tutoring at Calvary Academy, unless other arrangements need to be made. I look forward to meeting you and helping your child succeed!

I am a state certified elementary teacher and have taught elementary for the past seven years. I have taught kindergarten all the way to 6th grade. I am a fun, creative teacher that enjoys teaching in a number of ways in order to help each learning style a student may have. I enjoy using a variety of techniques, from hands on activities to music, games, and other techniques, in order to keep the student interested and having fun with what they are learning. phonics

As an elementary teacher, I have taught phonics for the past seven years. I can show your child ways to break apart each word in order to soon sound out the basic sounds and special sounds. I have a variety of phonics charts, games, and activities that will help your child correctly identify and say each sound in a word. I have used two different curriculums, ABEKA and BJU, when teaching phonics. I have attended several workshops that specialize in ways to teach phonics as well.
