Hi! My name is Ellen and I am an elementary teacher at Calvary Academy in Springfield. I have taught elementary for seven years. I have taught a variety of grades and have enjoyed each opportunity that I have had with new students. I have a standard k-9 teaching certificate with the state of Illinois. I have received my Bachelors in Psychology and completed the Teacher Education Program from the University of Illinois at Springfield. I have also completed several courses towards a Masters in Human Development Counseling. On a personal note, I am married with three childern, ages 7, 11, and 14 years. All of my students enjoy my fun, hands on teaching style. I look forward to the challenge of finding how each student learns best. I teach by using music, games, and other techniques that best fit each student's needs. I have a variety of phonics charts, games, and activities that will help your child correctly identify and say each sound in a word. I have used two different curriculums, ABEKA and BJU, when teaching phonics. I have attended several workshops that specialize in ways to teach phonics as well.
