More On Cedar-Shannon's Subjects

  • ESL/ESOL

I have been working with ESL and ESOL for many years in several different countries. I am currently a professor at HCC where I teach Developmental English and Writing Composition. I am passionate about what I do and have developed result oriented methods of teaching that relate to the student's individual needs. I look forward to hearing from you and seeing how we can expand your ability to communicate your thoughts. In the end, that is all that really matters, being able to say what you mean, being able to freely express ones feelings and thoughts.

Though I am an English professor, Art has always been a passion for me. I think you either have a passion for teaching or you don't. If you do have the passion, you can find different ways to teach your students multiple subjects. Its all about being able to tap into the individual students brain and teach them the way that they need to learn. I think teaching is about adaptability. With a medium like art which is so subjective, its a combination of pure technique (knowing how to place line and form to create your composition) and learning to bear your soul (bringing forth what is hidden deep) through whatever medium you are using. Art is about making people feel. Great art anyway. At least... it should make people think. I practice multiple forms from sculpture and printmaking to drawing and painting. I am currently preparing for a printmaking show. If you want to view my work, I am more than happy to send you a slide show. What one chooses to paint however does not determine ones ability to teach the subject.
