About William

Hello potential students!

About me:
I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Electrical Engineering. I'll be returning to graduate school this fall, but in the meantime I really enjoy tutoring students. I have a very strong background in mathematics and physics, and I enjoy helping both struggling and advanced students.

Tutoring Experience:
I have two years of experience during my undergraduate degree tutoring both math and reading for students in grades K-12. Math subjects ranged from counting and addition to calculus and statistics. I worked for a company called Kumon.

Methodology:
Because of my background I have a very strong understanding not only of the 'whats' of math and science, but also a keen understanding of the 'whys,' or how these concepts relate to the world around us. In other words, while rote exercise has its place, I find it far more fulfilling to help my students understand the significance of the exercise. I work very hard to ensure that there are many 'aha' moments, where concepts click together.

More On William's Subjects

  • differential equations

I had a semester of ordinary differential equations during my undergraduate degree, as well as many engineering courses using differential equations both ordinary and partial. Typical differential equation exposure in these courses ranged from frequent and integral (e.g. signal processing) to used in derivations (e.g. solid state physics, electromagnetics, etc.)

Student Feedback

  • Excellent tutor!

When I was searching for a tutor I was in dire need of someone to right my sinking calculus ship. Not only was he able to help me save my grade, but he helped me understand the applications of the material. Without William I would have been doomed to repeat calculus. Whereas now, I feel confident in my skills and am ready to move on to the next level. If ever I need another tutor I sure hope it is a subject William tutors in.
