About
Jacqueline: |
|
I have several years experience as a tutor for a college in El Paso, where I tutored in math, english, reading, writing, psychology, and some science for the then TASP program and test for college entrants. I also taught GED in a federal institution to federal inmates. I also have two plus years experience as a sustitute teacher for the Ysleta ISD in El Paso, TX. I am currently employed in the Keller ISD as a special needs teacher aide. I will be completing my degree in Psychology in 2008 and then, after alternative certification, I will be seeking a position as a special needs teacher, although I will also be obtaining certification to teach math.
My elementary through high school education was completed in the United Kingdom where I studied physics, chemistry, biology, world geography, history and religion, algebra, trignometry, geometry and calculus, as well as French,Latin, English language and literature, music, home economics and PE. So, as you can see, I have a very well rounded education behind me as well as several years in the teaching field.
My goal is to help others succeed and to come to love knowledge as a means to achieve your highest potential. |

Jacqueline's Experience:
GED
|
I taught, and also volunteered with, federal inmates in all GED subjects from August of 1992 through October of 1993 at a federal institution in El Paso, Texas.
I also tutored college students at El Paso Community College from April 1989 through October 1993. The program I was in charge of was a pilot program for the then Texas Academic Skills Program, designed for college entrants. During this time, I not only tutored Reading, Writing, and Mathematics of all disciplines, but also any other subjects that students might need help with. I also workshopped classes for several of the English Professors, and assisted their students in such classes as Technical Writing, Research and Critical Writing, Introduction to Drama and Short Story and Novel.
After my contract ended with the Federal Institution, I was employed in positions other than education, but returned to education from 1995 through 1997 as a substitute teacher for the Ysleta School District in El Paso, TX. I worked mainly at one high school, where I susbtituted for teachers in almost every subject offered at the school.
I am returning to school this year and plan on becoming a certified teacher in the area I now work in as a teacher's aide.
