To Whom It May Concern:
I have a BS Degree in Education, and have taken many additional educational courses from a variety of universities, both in the U.S. and overseas, since receiving my degree.
I have had more than 25 years teaching experience, much which was done in American schools overseas (with American curriculum). I have taught grades Pre-K through Grade 5 in the basic subjects, Music in Grades K - 9, Grade 7 General Math, have been a Reading Specialist, and was the Math Lab Instructor in Dubai for Grades 1 - 5. This last mentioned position was for children who had difficulties with certain math concepts and were pulled out of the regular classroom for additional assistance until concepts were understood.
I have been a tutor for various elementary age students, have worked with students who have ADD, ADHD, and Dyslexia. I am also currently tutoring a college student who is working on her Master's Degree in Education.
For one year I homeschooled for a family in Colorado in all subjects.
Whether I teach in a formal group setting or in a one-on-one tutoring session, I meet with the student(s), do an evaluation to see where the student(s) needs assistance, and try to determine what type of learning works best in a particular situation (auditory, tactile, hands-on, visual, etc.). From there, I help students set goals, and I prepare lesson plans which will help the student(s) reach these goals.
I am considered a kind and compassionate teacher and not only wish to assist my students in their academic needs, but also in building their self esteem. The latter is of utmost importance for the student's future.
