“A mind once stretched by a new idea never regains its original dimensions.”
My name is Etsegenet Tizazu or “Itsy”. I am a graduate student at Virginia Commonwealth University. I have a Bachelor of Science in Brain, Behavior and Cognitive Sciences from the University of Michigan. As an undergraduate at the University of Michigan, I tutored for four years. I was a tutor for a variety of courses including Psychology, Pre-Calculus, Chemistry (Organic and General) and Spanish. I also worked as a teacher’s assistant for underrepresented students in math. Through these experiences, I have developed many skills that will assist me in being the best tutor I can be. I believe that everyone is capable of learning and achieving. My teaching style changes in accordance to the subject that I teach, but my belief is that practice makes perfect. I like to see that the people I tutor have already tried and come to the session ready with specific questions and expectations from me. I would like to know what subject and the topic that I will be helping in so that I can be as ready as I can be and prepare questions. By doing so, I would like to instill in whoever I help that education is more than just grades, it is about getting the most information from life and that it is best achieved by practice.
