I am recent high school graduate (class of 2009) with a music focus (viola) at Alexander W. Dreyfoos, Jr., School of the Arts in West Palm Beach, Florida. I am ranked 3rd in a class of 332 with a GPA of 3.95 and have a record of academic success. Next fall, I will be attending Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. I am able to do well in school because of certain methods I use to study and understand the material. When tutoring, I try to help the student understand the material in a way that best fits their learning style: I suggest several methods and find the one that works right for that specific student. I know that education is not about memorization: it is about understanding.
The subjects I most excel in are English, writing, French, and math. I have taken English, French, and math at the Advanced Placement level and successfully passed all respective exams. I am the president of the French Honor Society as well as a member of the National Honor Society and the Tri-M Music Honor Society.
For standardized testing, my scores are as follows:
ACT: 34
SAT English: 730
SAT Math: 720
SAT Writing: 800
SAT total: 2250
AP scores (relevant tests)
English Language and Composition: 4
French Language: 4
Psychology: 5
Calculus AB: 5
I hope to help others enjoy learning as much as I do and to feel the sense of accomplisment that comes from learning something new.
