As a certified substitute teacher and a recent graduate from a top university, I know what today's students face in the classroom. I know the importance of a good education, and I also know that it can sometimes be a struggle to achieve. What I give to my students is the encouragement and respect they deserve, along with the assurance that I am an experienced professional.
After scoring in the top 92nd percentile on the ACT college entrance exam, I went on to
pursue an education at the University of Wisconsin, where I graduated with a bachelor's
degree in Biology in 2007. Since then I have interned for National Geographic in
Washington, DC, gained over one year of experience as a microbiologist and researcher, and
most recently became certified as a substitute teacher through The National Education
Association, Department of Public Instruction, and The Professional Development Academy.
I am a very effective teacher with considerable experience in the classroom and as a tutor. I have learned various techniques that are extremely useful and generate success when tutoring students in 1-on-1 or small group settings.I bring a fun, enthusiastic, yet professional attitude towards teaching, which students appreciate. I pride myself in taking a genuine interest in my students; what their interests are, what they struggle with, and help them to achieve their goals by giving them the best possible preparation. I am able to adapt to the different learning styles of my students, helping them to fully grasp and master the concepts they are studying. I have experience with students of all age levels K-12, including students with different learning disabilities.
A little bit about myself... I love music, art, sports, and traveling. I have been playing drums/percussion for over 10 years and actually received a college scholarship for my playing. I enjoy painting, drawing, and photography when I get the chance. I am an avid professional and college football fan and I also enjoy watching college basketball. I am originally from Wisconsin, but have traveled to Australia, Europe, Central America, and the Middle East.
