I am currently a graduate student at New York University. With several years of teaching experience at a private school for children with special needs as well as in a public school classroom, I will be able to help you or your child improve performance in school.
My teaching experience includes academic instruction at Springdale Education Center, a private school for students with emotional and behavioral challenges. I worked with students in all academic areas for grades 3-12, but primarily with high school students. In addition to teaching a group of students in my classroom, I ran preparatory classes for the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) for students in 9th and 10th grade in the areas of Math, English, and Biology. This is similar to the Regents Exams in New York State. I also contracted with SEC to write the curricula for the middle school and high school programs.
After working for two years at SEC, I was offered a position teaching high school math in an inclusion classroom at Putnam High School in the Springfield Public Schools. They needed a teacher to come in and finish the school year in a classroom that was disorderly. I had been planning on going to graduate school for an advanced degree to teach at the college level. It provided a good experience, showing me that I would enjoy teaching in a larger classroom setting as well.
Throughout my experiences teaching in both schools, I have needed to work with other teachers, parents, and service providers to ensure the success of my students. I have strong communication skills, and I possess the drive to provide students with the best education possible.
Armed with experience in individual, small group, and large group instruction, I feel I am well qualified to work for you. As your tutor, I would bring a focus on quality.
Thank you for your consideration.
