Hi! I am a junior at Bryn Mawr College, majoring in philosophy and linguistics. I live in Swarthmore, PA with my fiance and two cats. I am originally from Evanston, IL, where I attended Evanston Township High School, graduating with honors.
I love language, and have been unofficially tutoring for most of my life, as friends have been asking me to edit their papers since elementary school. During high school, I joined the Teen Advisory Board at my local library. We participated in many activities meant to foster a love of reading among local teenagers, including helping to design a new teen space and sponsoring fun events (such as author talks, movie showing, and a summer reading game) at the library.
I began officially tutoring at college, when a friend at Bryn Mawr asked me to prepare her for the verbal portion of the GRE. To do so, I developed a fun, individualized method of learning words, which is appropriate for PSAT, SAT, ACT, and GRE verbal prep as well as general vocabulary building. I have also begun to edit college admissions essays and college papers.
In terms of test prep, I personally received an 800 on the English portion of the SAT, and a 780 on the writing. I also received a 36 on the verbal portion of the ACT. I have not taken the GRE or MCAT, as I am pre-law, but I have reviewed several practice versions.
I would love to help you prepare for one of these exams, or simply build your confidence with reading and the English language.
I am also a fluent Spanish speaker, and am branching out into tutoring elementary Spanish. I would be happy to help with vocabulary and learning basic grammar.
