About Sarah

I am a college graduate, have a B.A. in Journalism and my strength is in writing. I have not done any professional tutoring but I enjoy helping others and am very patient. I think that my teaching style is more laid back. I want the student to learn as much as possible, not using their tutor as a crutch but as a supplement to their learning. I don't want them to rely on me and not be able to do the work when it matters.

More On Sarah's Subjects

elementary (k-6th)

I am a college graduate with a degree in journalism and am currently writing for a small newspaper. I have mastered the basics of subjects taught in elementary schools through my own education. Though my strengths lie in writing, reading and grammar I think I can also be of use in math, science and social studies.

general music

Music has always been a part of my life. I played violin from ages 5-13, then took up the clarinet when I started middle school. I played in the middle school and high school bands at Western Middle and High School. I was the only freshman to be accepted into the symphonic band, which consisted of upperclassman. I also played the bass clarinet in high school as well as with a clarinet quintet at several Solo and Ensembles. We received high scores each time. In college I was part of the marching band for one year as a colorguard member. I also took a few courses on music both as a requirement for my degree and out of my own desire to fully understand music. Though I haven't played in a few years, I am still very passionate about music.

clarinet

I played the clarinet for seven years at Western schools. I was the only freshman who was accepted into symphonic band, which consisted of only upperclassmen. I also played bass clarinet for several years, and played it with a clarinet quintet that performed at several Solo and Ensembles, where we received high scores. Though I have not played in a few years, I have recently picked it up again to reacquaint myself with the instrument.
