About
Michelle: |
My name is Michelle, and I have had a lot of experience with teaching students of all ages everything from elementary art concepts to trigonometry. I enjoy teaching, and have made it my career, teaching ballroom, latin, and swing dancing. I have majored in English and Interior Design in college, and have loved every minute of learning. I am excited to help kids do well in school and in life. My mom is a special education aide, and I used to accompany her to the middle school she works at (grades 6-8) and help the children there. I can do many more than the ten subjects I am able to choose on this application, so if you need something specific, please feel free to ask.
On a personal note, I am a 22-year-old woman engaged to a wonderful man who was in the military. I have a dog and two cats, and I am very fun to be around. I never met my older sibling, who died before birth, and have always wanted brothers and sisters. I am very loving and caring, and I am a good listener. I have experience with mean kids and bullies in school, and I can help with almost any situation.
I really look forward to meeting all of the wonderful students and parents out there who need just a little help with academics, extracurriculars, and social conundrums. |

Michelle's Experience:
ballroom dancing
I have trained at Arthur Murray to become a ballroom dance instructor, I trained with the DVIDA syllabus, and the Fred Astaire syllabus. DVIDA is the number one independent syllabus in the world for ballroom dance. I am currently at my associate bronze, and can teach up to that point, which would take an average student the better part of a year to learn, and then by that time, I will be very much ahead--possibly to my full silver syllabus, and I would be able to stay ahead enough not to have any lapse in teaching. I have tought beginning ballroom before with Step by Step Ballroom Dance Studio and Amore Dance Studio here in Las Vegas.

drawing
My experience is quite extensive, but I will be quite brief. I have drawn all of my life and I have attended the Art Institute of Las Vegas for Interior Design. I took classes in perspective drawing, life drawing, pinciples of design, and many other types of art. I am great at color rendering, shading, and drawing. I really believe I should be allowed to help teach drawing and art principles.
economics
I have passed Macroeconomics in college at the University of Nevada, Reno. I have knowledge of Kenysian Economics and Classical Economics, as well as the fundamentals thereof. I have an ability to tutor economics on a basics-level. I am in no way an accounting major, but I can help with basic economics classes.
elementary (k-6th)
I am well versed in helping elementary school students with their work. I was in an elementary school with split-level classes (one class with first and second graders, and one with third, fourth, and fifth combined) and we were all allowed to work at our own levels. I was one of the three or four students working from books for sixth grade to college level while still in K-5. I also attended "Bring-Your-Daughter-to-Work Day" with my mom, who is an aide for special education, and I tutored the children there who were learning at different levels from K-8.

GED
A GED is meant to show that the student taking the test knows and can apply high school skills. This is in lieu of a high school diploma. I am a graduate of Foothill High School and I maintained a 4.3 GPA (weighted) over THREE years (I graduated a year early). I was the first sophomore to take Physics Honors, and the first Junior to take Physics 2 AP. I passed both classes with a perfect A in each. I can accurately teach basic level high school skills to anybody who is looking to receive their GED.

general computer
I have used computers since grade school when I still ran everything in MS-DOS. I have used all Windows softwares from versions 1995, 1998, 2000, ME, XP, and Vista. I also have decent general knowledge of Apple OS X. I have knowledge of all programs in Microsoft Office and Works. I used to own a website, and can do limited html, php, and other coding languages.
general music
I have played the piano for 17 years, the percussion since 7h grade, and I have been a dancer my whole life. I currently teach ballroom dance (including Swing and Latin), and I have sang in chior for years, and I was a member of a band as a lead singer and pianist. I can help with music theory, reading notes, voice, dance, and other music forms.
grammar
I was an English major in college (and a proofreader in high school, as well as for all of my friends in all grades--including college) and aced the only grammar class included in the curriculum, a higher-level course.
physical science
I took physical science in 8th grade and passed with an A--my interest in physical science later on led me to taking Physics Honors and Physics 2 AP, both of which I had perfect scores in. Physics became my favorite subject in school. Physical science encompasses the basics in physics, something I would love to teach--and hopefully, cause other students to love as much as I did.
study skills
Considering I had a 4.3 GPA (weighted) in high school, and maintained an excellent GPA in college, I am certain I would be able to assist students in studying to keep a GPA not unlike my own. I can help with vocabulary cards, math for tests, and all sorts of study habits I have picked up through the years.
theatre
I would like debate, public speaking, and theater to be included because for all of my years in high school, I was a debater. I have experience in ALL events, including: Policy Debate, Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Parliamentary, Congress, Dramatic Interpretation, Humourous Interpretation, Duo Interp, Extemporary Speaking, Oratory, Impromptu, Expository Speaking, Spontaneous Argumentation (Spon Arg), and I have trained novice students to excell in these events.
voice (music)
Having much to do with music all of my life, I trained my voice by myself to be able to reach seven octaves of notes. I have performed many times, and was hired to do private parties in Las Vegas when I was only 12 years of age. I still sing now, only as a hobby, as I do also have a full-time career. I participated in chior from third to fifth grade, and then again in college. I know what it takes to put on a good show. One of my career dreams is to one day own an arts conservatory and produce musicals on my own stage.
