My name is Jenna T. and I am 23 years old and currently attending Urbana University. I'm currently a fifth year Middle School Education major specializing in Social Studies and Science. When I graduate in May of this year I will also have a reading endorsement as well. I played two and a half years of soccer at Urbana as well as participating in several extracurricular activities and clubs. I have been tutoring since I was in High school. At Marysville High School the National Honor Society program had each member do ten hours of community service each month. My community service was tutoring fifth graders in all subjects. This is when I decided I wanted to become a teacher. Since then I have tutored at the Caring Kitchen in Urbana for two years, servicing all grades and ages. I also have been helping several students throughout my field experience opportunities in grades four through ninth grades. I would say that my teaching style is very visual and hands on. I try to emphasize on these two techniques because when I was in school I continued to struggle without either one of those to retain new information for school. I discovered through teaching that many students learn in different ways, the hard part is just figuring out which way the new information is retained the easiest.
