elementary (k-6th)
I worked at St. Timothy's School as an After School Care Counselor on and off for about 3 years. We helped the children with their homework in the afternoons, administered "play time" and P.E. time and also helped them create different art projects. It was a great way to learn the basis for elementary education. We worked with grades K-7 and did the activities based on their age groups. I am also getting certified in grades 6-9 for English so I will be learning many things about the 6th grade age group. I also babysit for 3 different children that are in kindergarten, second grade and fourth grade. I help them with their homework when I babysit for them during the week. Working at St. Timothy's for a few years is what really has helped me learn how to relate to and teach this age group of children.
basketball
I have been playing basketball since I was about ten years old. I started playing at the YMCA at a young age and then as I grew older I played for my high school and for AAU which is an elite basketball league in the Triangle Area. I played point guard and shooting guard in high school and during the summers I helped coach basketball at a summer camp at my high school to elementary and middle schoolers. I played intramurals a lot in college and now that I am out of college I only play sometimes for fun. I love the sport of basketball and have grown up around it most of my life. Though I know a lot about basketball I would feel more comfortable tutoring elementary or middle school aged children.
