About Chelsea

Hello! Thanks for checking out my profile. I have my Master's degree in Literacy and my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and English, with a concentration in writing. I am currently certified to teach grades 1-6 in the state of New York, and in a few weeks I will receive my Colorado state teaching certification. Throughout my schooling, I had the opportunity to tutor several elementary aged students in reading and writing. Although I don't have experience tutoring adult students, my background in English and writing would provide an excellent start.

As a teacher, I feel that it is important to develop a relationship with my students. I like to have fun while I am teaching, and I want my students to have fun while they are learning. I have a passion for reading and writing and I love to share that with my students.

elementary (k-6th)

I believe that my background and experience with elementary students clearly demonstrates my ability to tutor at this level. I hold my Master's degree in Literacy, and my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and English. Through both of my degree programs, I worked with students individually and in small groups. This work was focused on improving students' reading and writing skills. I also completed two seven week student teaching placements, one with first graders and one with sixth graders. Upon graduation, I substitute taught at the elementary level. In addition to my teaching background, I also have experience working with children through private nannying and in daycare settings. These experiences gave me the opportunity to interact with parents as well as students. I truly believe that parents are an integral part of a student's education; I feel that it is important to have open and honest communication between the tutor and the parent about the students' growth.
