My name is Julian and I graduated from Yale University in 2007 with a B.A. in Economics and Mathematics. Yale is one of the finest institutions in the world and as a result my background in these subjects is quite strong; however I also studied a number of other subjects during my time there including: Chinese, English, Physics, and Spanish. Thus while Mathematics and Economics are certainly my areas of expertise I have studied a number of different subjects at an advanced level and am confident that I am capable of providing exceptional tutoring services in a number of areas.
Learning is a process and in particular, one that requires a great deal concentration and effort. I can tutor anyone, but a student will benefit the most if he or she actually wants to learn. My methods do not have some special trick that snaps students into comprehension. In meeting with the student I will identify what the specific problems are in terms of understanding and applying concepts. My tutoring sessions are unique in that I will not simply teach the student the content-- I will teach him or her how to think. Beyond the content itself I will stress the proper thought process and logic that one must use, so that the student can be successful on his or her own.
I have always enjoyed teaching others and have been doing so since I was in high school. Whether it was helping a classmate outside of school, participating in a formal tutoring program, or helping out a friend of a friend I have always taken advantage of any opportunity to share my knowledge with someone who needs it.
