About Heather

Hello! My name is Heather and I am excited about the opportunity to help you or your child in their math studies. Mathematics is my passion and plan to make Math Education my lifelong career. I am able to tutor many areas of primary, middle-level, and secondary math. Some examples include basic operations, algebra I and II, and statistics. WyzAnt prides itself on pairing qualified tutors with students needing a few extra hours of special attention in their studies.

My degree is from Northeastern State University. My major was Marketing; however, like I mentioned above, I am pursuing a career as a secondary level math teacher. I am certified teacher in the state of Oklahoma for Middle-level/Intermediate Mathematics, Business, Computers, and Career Technology. Recently I was honored by Alpha Chi, a very prestigious honor society, for my academic accomplishments. In 2008, the centennial year for NSU, only 74 of over 4,400 students qualified for Alpha Chi. I am very honored to be one of them!

My teaching style proves to be ideal for the field of mathematics. Students are allowed to explore different methods and encouraged to discover new concepts on their own. I provide the missing pieces they need to make connections between theories and logical processes.
Mathematics can be one of the most frustrating subjects for some students, but with personal attention, many students and parents alike notice those little "aha!" moments that make every minute of learning worthwhile.

Thank you for considering tutoring for yourself or your child!

"We used to think that if we knew one, we knew two, because one and one are two. We are finding that we must learn a great deal more about 'and'."
