About Amanda

I just completed my AA in Elementary Education, and am currently taking classes at WSU for a Bachelor's Degree. I have a lot of experience mentoring K-12, and am gaining more as I pursue my career. Teaching is a passion for me, and I am always open to new challenges. I am here to improve the quality of education for anyone who seeks to gain the confidence of knowledge in subjects that they might be struggling in. Education should be an enjoyable learning experience that enriches and fulfills the mind. Everyone learns differently and my teaching style is adaptable with most.

More On Amanda's Subjects

  • differential equations

I am very good with solving equations. A lot of people have referred to me as a math whiz because I can solve most equations in algebra, geometry and advanced math. I enjoy solving equations and this particular area of math, and have always exceeded expectations throughout my education. I would love to be able to help others who struggle in this subject and make it a fun learning experience.

  • discrete math

Math is one of my favorite subjects, and I feel that it is important to love what you teach in order to ensure success. My goal is to teach 2nd grade math, and have taken many math courses in the elementary rage that would make allow me to properly educate students in this field. A lot of students don't favor this particular subject because they struggle in it. As a tutor, I would incorporate students strengths into improving their weaknesses-the distinct parts that inhibited their growth.

  • elementary (k-6th)

I've had over 140 hours of experience in K-12, especially elementary age students. I am most familiar with several subject areas, and have facilitated many lessons of my own and in collaboration with the teacher. With service-learning and direct instruction, I feel that I would do very well tutoring this subject field.

  • general computer

With the advancement of technology in schools, students at an early age are learning how to use computers. Teachers are using Smart boards, and involving their students with such computer technology in their lessons. Between teaching my own lessons, observing and assisting other teachers in computer labs, I know quite a bit about Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and navigating around the internet. I would love to be able to educate students in this subject.

  • study skills

Just as everyone learns differently, everyone studies differently as well. The key to studying involves organization, preparation, and finding what works best for a test or quiz. Some students procrastinate and cram at the last minute before a major exam. This is not healthy and pointless, because you learn nothing. As a student, tutor/mentor and working with groups of students at a time, I would love to set an example of some of the best ways to study and improve students skills in their future education.
