I am a retired U.S. Marine, 24 years, air wing all the way. I have an Associates degree, major in English and have about 15 units to go for a B.A. I have worked in Insurance Loss Control and Adjusting, Semi-conductor manufacturing management, and as a Drug and Alcohol counselor. I am currently employed a secondary school substitute teacher in Clark County Nevada. That will conclude in December 2008.
When teaching, I like to get the students' attention with colorful overhead projector slides, pertaining to the subject, whenever possible. I believe it is important to suggest the students should think independently. I encourage questions and answer them to the best of my ability. If I'm on a one day assignment and I don't have an answer I'm not afraid to say "I don't know", and I always leave a note to the regular teacher regarding that questions issue.
I have no experience tutoring, but would enjoy the opportunity.
