guitar

I started playing guitar when i was 10 years old. I remember that i was continually nagging my parents to buy me a guitar because i wanted to have one so bad. I studied under a tutor for about a year and then enrolled for lessons in classical guitar playing at Yamaha Music School. I spent two years in classical guitar playing until i reached my sophomore years. That was when i started picking up an electric guitar and eventually formed a band with my high school classmates. We joined the school's band competition and out of around 40 bands from different levels who auditioned, only 10 of us were accepted to play during the school's anniversary celebration. We eventually won 3rd place. I went on playing with our band until my senior year. During college, the band broke up because we had different schools and degrees to pursue so i went on with my guitar playing as a hobby (but mostly to serenade girls :)). During my second year in college, i got to meet new friends and we formed a band. We would usually play at acquaintance parties, beach parties, and some small town festivities. This lasted until my fourth year in college. The band broke up when we graduated from college because work, family, & other priorities made it difficult to sustain the band. After college,i continued to study and play guitar as a hobby. Then around 4 years ago, i shifted to acoustic guitar playing. No more of the rock & roll stuff. I've been playing acoustic guitar on and off for the past years & i will continue playing guitar until my fingers can no longer do so. :) Given my long experience in playing the guitar as a hobby & as a member of a band, i believe that i am very much capable of teaching guitar playing. My experiences with classical, electric, & acoustic guitar playing makes me well rounded in the different styles of music & guitar playing. My various degrees in Education & experience as a teacher is definitely an advantage. I would love to teach guitar playing especially to beginners & kids because i want to share with them the joy this musical instrument has given me.
