My first tutoring job was referred by my college friend. Since then, I have about 4 years of tutoring experience; children from 3 to 12 years old girls. My main job is to "teach" them Cantonese and write Chinese - an extra opportunity for them to speak the language and learn about some Chinese culture through conversation. I like to transform Chinese characters into graphic or a picture, so that children can remember them more easily.

About tutoring Math, I often start tutoring students from pre-algebra or algebra 1. I believe it is essential for student to understand the theory, rather than memorizing the "method" of solving the problem.

And most important of all, I love working with children!

Chinese

I am born in Hong Kong and moved to California when I was a teenager. Before that, I have studied Chinese for at least 12 years since I was in kindergarten. Although most of subjects in schools were taught in English, every single class that I attended from grade 1 through grade 10 included a Chinese class everyday. The requirement of Chinese class includes readings, compositions, dictations, etc. Chinese History is also one of my favorite subjects when I was in secondary school. I have at least 4 years of Chinese tutoring experiences with 3 to 12 years old girls. Although I do not have any official credential of teaching, I believe I have more than enough knowledge to tutor children; encouraging them to speak Cantonese with their family and get tp know more about Chinese culture. I believe this is one of the reasons parents are looking for tutor to teach their kids to speak their language.
