About Lisa

"The most precious gift you can give someone is your time." Whether you are a parent who is concerned about your child, a student who is struggling with a course, a Corporate Executive that needs to learn a new language, a Social worker who has to pass a course to keep her job, a College student who needs help with his papers, or a Medical student doing your internship and needs proof reading, I can help you.

With over 20 years of experience in many fields, I like to give back to others. I remember when I was in 4th grade and I was having a very difficult time with my English class, how two teachers took me under their wings and tutored me on their off time. I never forgot that. I even remember their names, Mrs. H Levine and Mrs. R Levine. They were my angels. By the 6th grade I was the winner of the SPELLING BEE, outperforming all the kids and my grades just shot up. That was a critical time because after that I got a scholarship to New York University, and that was a very difficult school to get into.

I have always been an over achiever with many interests, and my diverse background has allowed me to develop my skills. I am a published writer, edited books for other authors, performed statistical work for Television Networks, and currently I own 2 businesses which impact the community in a positive way. So, I live by my word, I preach what I teach. I believe that I can make a difference for someone else, and that could be you. So if you would like to have fun while you learn, let me help you to be all that you can be. I am currently teaching at the Graduate, High School and Elementary levels. I make learning fun!!

  • college counseling

With many years of experience in many areas, I would be able to help you with regards to College Counseling. I can help with writing essays for entrance applications, since I know what the Colleges are looking for. I have helped many students, preparing for their entrance exams also. So if you have a dream to go to College, gather your information and I can help you put it together into a nice package that will appeal to the Colleges. My background includes Public Relations, writing copy for advertisements, research, and just knowing what people like. So send an email to check for my availability.

  • phonics

I have been working with PHONICS with students of all ages and levels. Since I understand how we learn languages because I studied Linguistics, I found that this method reduces the time needed to learn. The students who I am teaching using PHONICS improve at a much rapid level and they enjoy their lessons. My students consist of 4 year olds, Special needs students, ESL students from all countries around the world, and adults who are learning to read for the first time. The success rate is excellent and they look forward to their lessons, because they are fun. If you are having fun, you are more relaxed and your mind is like a parachute.........the rest is history.

  • photography

I was a Press Photographer for a radio station, two publications, and also several non-profit organizations. I took over 37,000 photographs of people, places, and events. I enjoy capturing the expression on people's faces or a unique shot of a Hawaiian Gran Canyon, a rainbow, or a Maine Coon Cat. I can teach you how to be creative . Although I do know how to use digital cameras, I still prefer the old-fashion film ones. I even was hired to photograph a Bar Mitzvah. That was a lot a fun. So capturing the moment takes some skill, but with a trained eye, you can be a much better photographer!!

Student Feedback

  • Very helpful!

Lisa is very friendly and easy to communicate with, both on the phone and in person. After sitting with my son just once or twice, Lisa saw what problems he was having with Italian and was able to help him a lot. She always had lessons in Italian with her if my son did not have specific work that he needed to work on. And she was always able to accommodate us in getting over to our house eventhough she did not live close by. I recommender her for Italian lessons!

  • Great Tutor

From the first lesson, Lisa assessed my individual learning style. She continues to identify my weaknesses and strengths in order to focus on improving my skills. Each week she offers stimulating study guidelines and is always pleasant and patent.

  • A Clear Winner.

I'm an Italian-American from Yonkers, New York whose had many years of experience in dealing with native Italians who for one reason or another found themselves situated either permanently or temporarily in the New York city region. My experience with them even includes an entire summer in 1981 working as an intern at the Italian Trade Commission on Park Ave in NYC. I'm 52 years old now and when I say I know Italians, I mean it. My experience with her through Wyzant has decisively shown me that this is a flawless individual in her capacity as an Italian translator. Her most notable asset is her initiative, as she translated for me a two page document riddled with American idiomatic expressions in less than three days. On the fourth day, Lisa personally came to my house to assist me in putting the finishing touches on the final draft. Let me be clear here, no Italian in the NYC region with the established translator skills of a Lisa would have rendered in such a short period of time what she produced for me in terms of the quality of the translation or the personal attention she afforded me. It just doesn't happen, people! So for all you out there looking for an awesome Italian translator with reasonable prices, now you know where to go. To the people at Wyzant.
