About Susan:

I have a B.S. in Secondary Education with a Math major and Psychology and Computer Science minors. I taught high school math/computers/theology classes for 3 years at a private school in northern Utah. When my oldest daughter began 2nd grade, I began homeschooling all subjects. That was 13 years ago and since, I have schooled all six of my children(4 daughters and 2 sons) through the early years of high school. In between babies, I also taught adult education computer classes at Boise State University. My hobbies include reading, gardening, biking, nutrition and freelance writing (numerous articles and one book). I love the logic of math and enjoy teaching it. Using your textbook, as well as supplementary materials, I can help you master the skills necessary to be successful in math, computers or elementary subjects. I have taught kindergarten through adult students in a variety of subjects. I look forward to getting to know you and helping you succeed!

More On Susan's Subjects:

  • elementary (k-6th)

Though my certification is in secondary education, I have taught all levels from kindergarten through early high school. For the past 13 years, I have home schooled all six of my children (4 girls and 2 boys) in every level of elementary education (math, reading, spelling, phonics, writing, language/grammar, history, geography/maps, science and religion). So far, all my daughters have made the transition to high school classes in a school setting with excellent grades. My oldest daughters scored 30 and 29 on their college entrance exams (ACT) and they have been successful in college. Even though each child has different strengths and weaknesses, the elementary years are a great time to work extra on those areas of weakness. Math and reading are especially important subjects for the elementary student to master. I have always used timed tests for math facts (this works great with my boys) and phonics for reading. Both help the student improve their skills and experience success.
