My name is Jessica and I currently hold a Bachelor's of Science degree in Biological Sciences from California State University Sacramento. During my undergraduate work I completed nearly all my biology courses with a grade of B or higher. I spent a semester tutoring third graders in Math and English, helping them to increase their testing scores over a 4 month period. I loved seeing the progress of my students! Watching their self esteem and confidence increase was truly rewarding!
After graduating in 2002 I worked as a Microbiology Laboratory Assistant at California Laboratory Services in Rancho Cordova, CA for 2 1/2 years. During this time I also took a Molecular Biology lab to keep up on my knowledge and skills. I am currently in the matriculation process at Saint Joseph College to begin my graduate studies in Biological Sciences and will begin in the Spring semester of 2009. Once I complete my Masters Degree I plan to teach at the college and university levels.
Currently I am a stay-at-home mom and piano teacher. I love spending time with my kids and teaching my students how to play the piano. My students' love of music continually grows and it's wonderful to see their talent blossom! My teaching style is unique to each student. I cater to their learning styles for optimal success. I have played the piano for 24 years and enjoy sharing my love of music! As a tutor in the biological sciences I plan to follow this same process. Having experienced many different teaching styles, I have learned what styles are best and what styles to avoid. I plan to implement my experiences in my tutoring sessions. I am excited to tutor and gain more experience which will help me become a better instructor. I hope to help you excel and perform at your best!
