Bonjour! I have taught French both in the public school system and to homeschoolers. I am especially interested in working with middle or high school students needing extra help, as well as in teaching homeschoolers with a desire to learn French. My eleven years of experience is in teaching and tutoring levels 1, 2, and 3 of French. I have an excellent understanding of French grammar and my pronunciation has been commended by many native French speakers, although I am not a native French speaker myself. I understand obstacles that many American students have in learning French and am able to address those obstacles. In recent years I have noticed that many people feel they can only learn correctly from a native speaker of the foreign language. However, a more important quality for an instructor to have when teaching foreign language is the ability to “get the point across.” Without a doubt, many times an American with a good knowledge of the foreign language is more able to understand the difficulties a student is encountering and can explain things in a way easier for them to understand and learn. Especially at the lower levels, it is crucial that a learner have someone who knows how to teach; not just someone who knows how to speak. I am a teacher with the patience and ability to work with students one-on-one to help them learn. To students using the HRW series called Allez, viens, I can be especially helpful since I have taught from that series for seven years. I am located conveniently to northwest Cobb County, southern Bartow County, and eastern Paulding County. I’m between 50 and 55 years old, so if you’re looking for a cute, young tutor, I am not the one for you. (I am cute, but not young!!)
