I believe in the power of writing and literature to transform a person’s life; that the role of a writer is intimately linked to that of a teacher - both inspire and motivate, guide and empower. My own academic career has been shaped by this perspective and by the desire to share my passion for writing and education with others.
I’m an accomplished writer, editor, poet and teacher. I came to Boulder 2 years ago to complete my MFA in writing, to establish my career as a writer and editor, and finally, to realize my ultimate goal – to teach. In that time, I have become a respected figure in Boulder’s Literary Community, creating my own writing and editing business while working and collaborating with upcoming and established poets including Bhanu Kapil, Laura Mullen, Elizabeth Robinson, and Marie Larson.
I have established myself as, not only a talented writer, but a passionate and dedicated teacher, working with individuals of my community to educate and inspire creative expression.
Writing and teaching has taken me across the world, from Boulder, Co to the Himilayas where I lived and studied Buddhist philosophy and ancient literature for six months in the fall of 2005. I have a BA from the College of Wooster in English and South Asian Cultural Area Studies and a MFA from Naropa University in writing and poetics. I am an accomplished writer. My work has been recently published in Monkey Puzzle and The Battered Suitcase. I also have two books that are being reviewed for publication. I have proposed undergraduate writing and literature courses currently under consideration by Naropa University. I have designed and taught creative writing workshops for children in the Boulder community.
To my students, I offer all of myself. I bring my experience, enthusiasm, and passion. I am driven by a deep seated desire to help others realize their full potential. And it would be my honor to help you realize yours.
