My name is Jeremy and I am certified to teach 8-12 English in the State of Texas, but while earning my undergraduate degree, I chose to double-major in English and History, with a minor in human services and, then, completed teacher certification two years after graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree. I graduated Magna Cum Laude and with Alpha Chi distinction.
I tutored at the college level while pursuing my undergraduate degree and teacher certification, through the university and on my own, as time allowed. Additionally, I completed my teacher internship two years ago, so I have worked in the classroom with students on everything from standardized test preparation and study skills to investing a lot of time and energy into increasing student competency in various subjects.
I believe that smaller group interaction is more beneficial learning process than large group teaching and/or tutoring - that all students, regardless of learning styles, can achieve more with greater teacher/tutor-to-student interaction. All children are capable of excelling in his or her own academic studies, if the material being taught is presented in a way that students can relate. Few successes in life rival the awareness that a child has transformed his or her comprehension of once difficult subjects, becoming enthusiastic about learning and growing as a person and student.
