More On Kimberley's Subjects:

  • elementary (k-6th)

I Currently work with students k-5 in areas where they are scoring or working below grade level. I use the SRA Kit for Both Math and Science because they students are able to start out on a lower level and work themselves up to the higher reading and Math Level. I also do fast facts in math because it helps children become familiar with simple addition and subtraction which helps build a solid foudations. I use the Dolch Sight word list to determine the level of my 1st-5th grade students. For Kindergarten I start with simple flash cards which allow them to Identify letters, Numbers,Shapes, and Sounds.

  • phonics

Phonics is a very important part of reading. I work with my students who have difficulty with phonemic and phonological awareness by having them listen and attempt to identify rhyming words once they are able to here the rhyme I have them to point them out and tell me the similarities each word has. I also use word families.
