I have been a tutor since I was 14 years old. I have always had a passion and a talent for helping others learn. I went though a college study abroad program in Japan for a year. While I was there, I worked as an English teacher. I taught students from 3 years old to adults. I have taught one on one and in a classroom setting. In college I tutored my peers in Accounting, Spanish, and Statistics. After graduation I worked for a tutoring company in Chicago. I tutored everything from pre-school to ACT/SAT prep. I have been very successful as a tutor. My students and I form a strong bond. Many of my students came to me extremely unmotivated and behind in their classes. They did not want to study or learn and they were very turned off to having a tutor. It didn't take long to build a bond with each of them. Every single student I have had who was failing classes was able to bring their grades up to A's and B's within the semester. I had one boy who was behind in math in third grade. We started working together in 2006 and by the time I had to leave in 2008, he was top in his class, was able to skip a year in math, and we were working on high school math concepts. I am very talented at motivating students because I enjoy working with them and I am proud of all of their achievements. The hardest part was giving them up when I moved out here. We still keep in touch and they are excited to tell me about their continued success. I worked for a summer for Equine Dreams. This was a program designed to help people with physical and mental handicaps learn various skills using farm animals. This experience opened me up to creative teaching techniques and how to teach to an audience who couldn't understand words. I have had successful tutoring experience with children with ADD and ESL because of what I learned through this program.
