My name is Dina, and I am an educational therapist who works in the North, West, & East Valley.
I work with elementary, middle, and high school students who have learning differences, developmental disabilities, those in need of academic and organizational management, as well as children who have been defeated by the educational system. My main focus as an Educational Therapist is to look at a child holistically through means of informal assessments as well as communication with his or her teachers, school environment, and parental inventories.
Thoroughly understanding a child as a whole and gaining perspective on a child’s strengths and weaknesses subsequently allows me to develop an individualized program that will concentrate not only on remediation, task analysis, and the learning of compensatory strategies, but also on strengthening the underlying skills that comprise the learning process. Educational therapy focuses not only on allowing a child to experience success in their classroom, its purpose is also to empower the student and allow him or her to become proactive, self-reliant, as well as improve the processing skills so new material can be acquired and facilitated.

  My educational background focuses primarily on teaching children k-6. I have worked as an inclusion specialist supporting special needs children within general education programs and one on one in private practice as an educational therapist and tutor. I enjoy this age group because I think elementary school is when basic skills are taught, nurtured and developed. This is where you can assess the conceptualization of skills, how students acquire their knowledge and how they apply what they learn in developing their own understanding of their curriculum.

  My extensive educational experiences in early childhood special education credential courses and a master's program in mild to moderate disabilities with a specialization in educational therapy has given me the tools to effectively teach children phonics programs as it is an integral part of reading processes

  I have worked with the special needs population for over 7 years in a variety of educational settings from special day classrooms, inclusion programs, special education schools, as well as one-to-one in private practice as an educational therapist and as a freelance consultant for a number of educational agencies. I have worked with Learning disabilities, and developmental delays.

• study skills

  This is my favorite area to teach. I feel that study skills are an integral part of the learning process. It goes hand in hand with organizational skills and is important for students to learn the strategies and techniques necessary for success within the classroom. Study skills need to be taught effectively so children can incorporate them into their approach to learning.

  My daughter is happy

  After each session with Dina, my daughter is very happy because she has completed her homework, and learns a lot also. She is trying to follow the advice Dina gives her when she is doing her homework herself. Dina also develops a good relationship with the child.
