About Mark:

I am a father of three and grandfather of seven. I have "tutored" all of my kids to be successful in school and in life, including sports. I have a background in small business ownership in the fields of sales and marketing and am also a veteran of radio and political campaigns. My academic passions include history, writing, philosophy and English. I am also a basketball referee and have volunteered for various youth sports organizations over the years. I can help your kids realize their full potential as students and as productive members of society. I went to college for two years, then dropped out to go to broadcasting school and earned an FCC license. I then attended the McGraw-Hill School of Marketing in New York City and received a diploma.

More On Mark's Subjects:

  • basketball

Not only have I played basketball for many years, I have been youth basketball coach and a basketball referee. In fact, I have refereed for over 25 years. Surely I can instruct you in how to work within the rules to gain the biggest advantage over your opponent and can help you work on skills to improve your overall game. If you are serious about becoming an excellent basketball player, I can help. Oh yeah, I'm distantly related to NBA player Scott Padgett, although I must admit I wasn't involved in his development, but I'm sure I could have helped him become an NBA MVP.

  • poker

I first learned poker from my grandfather, who was in the gambling business virtually all his adult life, first on the south side of Chicago, then Lake Tahoe and finally for over 20 years in Las Vegas. He taught me the nuances of the game, how to read "tells" and patterns of the other players and how to leverage your position for greatest success. I can't claim that poker has made me millions of dollars, but I do enjoy a friendly game and I'm quite good. I've taught all my kids how to play and I'm now working on my grandkids.
