Hey there! I only tutor in the two subjects in which I have expertise - Japanese and Theater.
Japanese: To put it simply, I turn learning Japanese into a game. I am a fluent speaker, have a BA with a double major in Japanese from UTAS (Australia) and traveled to Japan as an AFS Exchange student. It was a Japanese tutor in Japan who turned learning into something fun and that is what I do with my students. My aim is to ensure that my students never lose interest in the subject because we have such a great time with it! I break the material down and make it easy to understand and as such can move through their core material at a greater pace, something that is impossible to do in a classroom environment because teachers are unable to focus on how each individual child responds to study. I also have experience in child care and, as such, I've learned that the most important skill in effective teaching is to connect with the student personally. No matter how they learn or how much difficulty they are having with Japanese, this enables me to guarantee that their proficiency will improve.
Theater: I have a degree from the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in Sydney. It is one of the most prestigious drama colleges in the world, auditioning around 3000 applicant every year and accepting 24. Graduates include Mel Gibson, Baz Luhrmann, Hugo Weaving, Cate Blanchett and Geoffrey Rush. I will only tutor students over 15 years of age with a genuine interest in the craft of acting, maturity and focus. Tutorials work best if the student is already enrolled in an acting course and requires development with the material they have been given, otherwise I can organize a private curriculum which involves scene work, studying Shakespeare, acting for camera and an introduction to different acting techniques so that the student has the tools to prepare for specific roles given different entry points, as opposed to having to rely on one single method (eg. Stanislavski, Strasburg, Meisner, etc.).
