Hey! I'm thrilled to be on wyzant, and I can't wait to start tutoring! I recently graduated from Sarah Lawrence College, one of the best writing colleges in the country. In high school, upon my graduation, I was given a distinction in English, an award handed out to a few students considered to be the strongest in the department. I was also an honor roll student for the last three years of my high school career. In college, I studied writing and international relations, with a focus on political science. Since graduating I have enrolled in the Texas Teachers certification program and have become qualified to teach social studies 8-12. I've taken extensive courses in both politics and writing at both Sarah Lawrence College and Trinity College in Dublin, one of the most prestigious colleges in Europe. Teaching is one of my greatest loves, and I approach education from a student-centered perspective, a perfect match for tutoring. I encourage students not only to learn but to analyze, re-interpret and discuss information to gain a higher level of understanding. I have used this method in my multiple teaching internships in New York, as well as my jobs as a substitute teacher in Massachusetts and Texas. I look forward to meeting the children I teach and finding out how they best learn so I can accommodate them and pass on not only a fluency in, but also a passion for writing and politics.
