I have two teaching certifications, one from New York State and one from Great Britain.
I have taught both in the United States and in Europe at public and private schools. My students have ranged in age from 11 to 70. It has been my pleasure to work with gifted students and with students who are gifted but don't know it yet. (I firmly believe that everyone is gifted.) Having overcome some learning difficulties myself, I have tremendous respect for those of us who struggle in certain subjects (for me, it was mathematics) and excel in others (English, History, and Drama). I totally understand the frustration that can result from not "getting it" as other students seem to. I believe it is the responsibility of the teacher to discover how the student learns, to speak in the student's language, and to find out what inspires her student. This is something I have always done my best to do. I will work very hard to help my student and I expect in return that my student will do his or her very best to succeed.
