About Douglas:

I am from Des Moines, Iowa, although I have lived and worked abroad for the past 9 years. During this time I have filled various roles in the fields of education and training. I hold a BA in management and as noted, and I am writing my dissertation for a MBA in Finance.

In terms of teaching, I taught at the most prestigious university in Thailand, Chulalongkorn University (Chula), for four years. My experiences with Chula were varied, from instructing primary and high school English classes at the demonstration school, established for the children of Chula professors, to instructing TOEFL classes for undergraduate students. Furthermore, I have worked weekends for the last four years at Chula's Go International with English, a pilot language school program established by the university and by far the most successful language schools operating in Bangkok. My other teaching experiences have included corporate ESOL work for Toyota Motors, Colgate, Kimberly-Clark, and many other corporations. I've also designed English camp curriculum for many international schools around Thailand, such as Universal International School in Khao Yai and Dulwich International School, Phuket. Furthermore, I spent the last two years teaching English at an American High School in Bahrain. I have many private students of varying nationalities such as French students, Taiwanese students, Japanese students, and many Arab students as well, specifically dealing with middle school aged students.

My main strength lies in the fact that I love my students, which resonates through my teaching style and approach. While I believe in challenging students to help them reach their maximum potential, I also am conscious of the fact that not all students learn in the same manner. Thus, my lessons are always full of a vast array of activities. Furthermore, I am a highly reliable person and have always maintained cordial relations with all my student's parents. If you are interested, please contact me at your earliest convenience. I welcome the opportunity to discuss your needs and my qualifications in detail and would be pleased to speak with you personally.
