I am a literacy specialist with 11 years experience working with struggling readers. I was previously employed by Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes where I learned how to implement their multisensory reading and comprehension programs.

I now operate my own private practice where I work primarily with students diagnosed with learning disabilities. I have extensive experience working with students with all types of diagnoses, including autism, dyslexia, and ADD/ADHD.

My undergraduate degree is in Educational Psychology. I am currently pursuing my M.Ed in Special Education with a Learning Therapy certification.

Teaching reading is my passion. I believe every student can learn to his/her potential given the right diagnosis, the correct implementation, and the best instructor.

  I am trained in the following multisensory reading programs: The Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing Program for Reading, Spelling and Speech (LiPS) © Visualizing and Verbalizing for Language Comprehension and Thinking © Seeing Stars: Symbol Imagery for Phonemic Awareness, Sight Words and Spelling © I have been an educator using the above programs since 1997. I have also led professional development workshops in the above programs for public and private school teachers. The above programs are research based and have been proved effective in remediating weaknesses in phonemic awareness and phonological processing.

  I have been teaching reading, spelling, comprehension and math to students with special needs for 11 years. I have worked with students diagnosed with a variety of learning disabilities, including dyslexia, ADD/ADHD, hyperlexia, and autism spectrum disorders. I am currenly pursuing my M.Ed in Special Education. My student range in age from pre-k to adults.

  I am trained in a program called Visualizing and Verbalizing for Language Comprehension and Thinking ©. This program is very effective for students struggling with study skills. The Visualizing and Verbalizing for Language Comprehension and Thinking © program teaches students how process the information they read and hear in order to improve reading and oral language comprehension, vocabulary development, critical thinking skills, and study skills. This approach is especially effective for TAKS prep.
