Hi, my name is Heidi! I truly believe in life-long learning and that is why I recently moved to San Diego to pursue another graduate degree. I am originally from Washington state. I received my Bachelor in English from Washington State University Vancouver in 2003. I then received my teaching certificate in 2004. In 2005 I received my Masters in Education from Washington State University. I have three years of classroom teaching experience in English. I have taught 8th, 9th, 11th, 12th grade and college level courses in subjects such as mythology, Shakespeare, American & British Literature, Advanced Placement English Literature and Composition, reading, writing and grammar, and College Preparation. I coached volleyball for one year and then I was a drama/theater director for two years. I currently produce and direct for a local community theater so I am up to date with the trends and methods of today's theater.
I made quite a difference in my student's lives and was considered a favorite teacher by many. I believe this is because I am young and I understand the pressure of school and life and how important your time is as a student. I also took a personal interest in each one of my students. I made learning fun and enjoyable. I am not a teacher who believes in "busywork". I believe that to truly teach my students what they need to know I need to make my lessons relevant and engaging. I believe my calling as a teacher is not only to teach the content or subject material, but also it is to teach the ability to enjoy life-long learning!
