Hello! My name is Daniel , and I am a tutor who prides himself on being clear, effective, and entertaining. I work as an actor in the Boston theatre scene, and if you like theatre, maybe you've seen me on stage! I have also been teaching ESL and Remedial English for three years. My whole family is full of teachers. It's in my blood to teach, and I knew I'd be better at teaching than waiting tables, like a normal actor.
Because of my theatrical background, I tend to try to have fun and engage my students/tutees so that the lesson is fun for both of us. Sometimes (and hopefully not often), there is material that is very tedious, and has to be gotten through. When that time comes, I am very patient and explain every problematic detail as clearly as possible. I never move on until all questions are thoroughly answered, no matter what it takes. However, we will always find some way to make the time pass in a pleasant way, no matter how tedious the material.
My strongest subject in high school and college was always math. I love it. I get excited about it, and even if you don't believe me, I can get you excited, too.
I learned how to live in Italy. The Italians taught me so much about myself, and what i want from life, and they also taught me their language. Learning to speak is the hardest part, and my forte to teach.
Having lived abroad, I needed an excuse to be in a foreign country, and so I got certified to teach English. I have been doing for over three years, as stumbled into something I enjoyed.
If I were to be asked what was unique about me as a person, I might say the following:
I'm from the South (North Carolina (Go Heels!))
I have lived in Italy and Mexico (and speak Italian and Spanish)
I have a black belt in Tae Kwon Do
I love to play squash
I am 6'2", but Jewish!
I play guitar
I was in the BU Dear Abbeys and we won the 2005 ICCA Championship at Lincoln Center in NYC (yes, this is dorky, but it's the only thing of which I've ever been national champion)
