  I was born in Russia, and am a native Russian speaker. I speak it without an accent, and read and write in Russian fluently and with perfect grammar. I love Russian literature, and can suggest many books for starting and advancing students.

  I started playing the violin when I was 5 years old. I attended a specialized music school in St. Petersburg, Russia, where, along with my violin lessons, I learned music theory, history of music, ear training, and the piano. When I moved to the United States I continued my lessons with a Yale School of Music professor. I went to the University of Massachusetts - Amherst on a music scholarship, and graduated with a minor in violin performance. I have played in numerous orchestras and participated in several competitions.
