Hi!
My name is Rachel and I am 21. I live in South Philadelphia but am willing to travel anywhere in and around the city. As a young child I attended private Jewish day school, and I have been teaching Hebrew school for 8 years at a very well known congregation in Philadelphia. I have taught from grades 1-7 in every subject area known within Judaism. I speak Hebrew fluently and can read and write Hebrew. Dikduk, poalim, dinim, you name it, I know it. I know the Torah (bible) back and forth, inside and out. Also I read Torah and know all Torah trop and can tutor in Bar/Bat Mitzvah training, as well as for anyone who wants to learn to chant.
Also I have been singing since I was 4 years old. I sing professionally in Philadelphia. I have a very keen ear and eye, and I am able to match pitch so I would also be able to help with that.
Any time I tutor a student, I always develop my teaching style based on the environment in which we are learning, as well as the individualized learning style of the student. If he or she is more of a hands-on type of learner rather than a listener and note-taker, then we can spin the lessons accordingly. Also, I always try to include fun activities into lessons. I like to make up my own work sheets for the students. I have mostly worked with younger children, however I am not opposed to peer/adult tutoring. I look forward to talking with you!
