I earned two degrees from Western Michigan University. I majored in English and in Child Psychology. I have tutored students in English and Reading from Elementary aged to other college peers. Depending on the age and and the lesson will vary on my method. When I was helping the younger ones with phonics and vocab, we used the Phonics Game, and Flash Cards, and some Basic Comprehension exercises. We also did some Read-Alouds from Easy Readers and played Boggle to promote Spelling. With the older ones, we continue, reading age-appropriate books and sounding out the words. I also help with composition and research writing by defining the parts of the body of the paper and analyzing a poem or a story.
I also have an extensive background in Psychology and would love to help students decipher theories and put them to use. I have worked with children, so I use what I learned in Child Development often.
