I have been a teacher for 18 years. I started when I has 18 in an after school program where I began to direct the elementary age children in plays. After I went away to college, I began a summer theater workshop for junior high age children producing four plays each summer. The students also designed all the plays. After receiving my BA in English and Theater I moved to Paris where I began working for Berlitz as an ESL instructor, teaching all ages in groups and privately. I then continued to work for them in New York as an instructor and a teacher trainer. I eventually started my own business which I ran for four years. At the same time I was teaching conflict resolution through theater to children of all ages. I currently teach conflict resolution at an adoption center, a conservatory program at South Coast Repertory Theater and a literacy program at Fairfax High.
I have a unique combination of skills. I can break down the structure of the English language in order to explain the process and coming from a theater background I am able to make the learning experience an engaging one. I have also worked with all styles of writing from business to philosophical to creative.
