About Mario J:

I hold a BA from George Washington University (GW) where I majored in International Business and minored in Japanese Language and Literature. I spent my last semester of college studying in Nagoya University in Japan and just came back to the United States after teaching English to Middle School Students for two years as an Assistant Language teacher (ALT) in Hyogo Japan.

I have been studying Japanese for over five years. I have passed the level II Japanese proficiency test this past December and I am presently looking forward to taking the Proficiency level I test (Highest Japanese Proficiency Level) this coming December 08. />
As an ALT I was also entrusted with diverse responsibilities besides teaching including translating emails, speeches and other documents when requested. I have also played the role of interpreter numerous times when receiving English speaking visitors.

During my stay in Japan I have also hosted family members and friends traveling extensively within cities such as Kobe, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima and Tokyo to name a few.

Aside from my Japanese Proficiency level, I believe that my extensive travel experience, cultural knowledge combined with my teaching experience will all prove invaluable in preparing anyone considering a trip to Japan.

I am a George Washington University (GW) Undergraduate who majored in International Business and minored in Japanese Language and Literature. I spent my last semester of college studying in Nagoya University in Japan and just came back to the United States after teaching English to Middle School Students for two years as an Assistant Language teacher (ALT) in Hyogo Japan. My teaching has been greatly appreciated by students and supervisors (teachers I taught with and principals) in Japan as I always took great care in preparing my daily lesson plans and constantly find new ways of captivating my students’ interest. I have used Power Point presentations, videos starring myself, music, movies etc to enhance teaching in the classroom. I have passed the level II Japanese proficiency test this past December through self study and I am presently looking forward to taking the Proficiency level I test (Highest Japanese Proficiency Level) this coming December 08. Additional information on the Japanese Language Proficiency Test ( JLPT) can be found at the following link: http://www.jflalc.org/?act=tpt&id=21 As an ALT I was also entrusted with diverse responsibilities besides teaching including translating emails, speeches and other documents when requested. I have also played the role of interpreter numerous times when receiving foreign English speaking visitors. Additionally, during my stay in Japan I have hosted family members and friends, traveling extensively within cities such as Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima and Tokyo to name a few. Aside from my Japanese Proficiency level, I believe that my extensive travel experience, cultural knowledge combined with my teaching experience will all prove invaluable in preparing anyone considering a trip to Japan.
